What this PDF tool does
PDF Compressor, Merger & Splitter is a free set of three PDF actions that run entirely in your browser: shrink a PDF by re-rendering its pages, join several PDFs into one in the order you choose, and pull pages out by range or explode a file into single pages. There is no account, no upload queue and no hourly counter.
Everything happens in memory in this tab with pdf-lib for structure, pdf.js plus canvas for raster compression, and JSZip for the split-all archive. Your files never POST anywhere, downloads use temporary blob URLs that are revoked, and nothing is persisted.
How to use it
- Add PDFs. Drag and drop files onto the dropzone, click it to choose, or paste with Ctrl+V. The queue accepts multiple files, lets you drag to reorder, and lets you remove any file.
- Compress. Open Compress, set JPEG quality 10–95 and DPI 72, 150 or 300, then press Compress PDFs. Each file reports before and after bytes plus percent saved, with download, copy and share buttons.
- Merge. Order the queue by dragging, open Merge and press Merge in queue order to download one concatenated PDF.
- Split. Open Split, type a range like 1-3,5 and press Extract range, or press Split all to ZIP for one PDF per page inside a ZIP.
How compression works
Compression here is honest rasterization, not metadata stripping. Each page is rendered at the DPI you pick — 72 for smallest, 150 balanced, 300 for best fidelity — encoded as JPEG at your quality setting, then rebuilt into a new PDF with the original page sizes. Image-heavy and scanned PDFs shrink the most; already-compressed text PDFs shrink less, and selectable text becomes an image.
Browser support
| Platform | Supported | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Chrome (desktop) | Yes | Full: compress, merge, split, ZIP, Web Share |
| Edge (desktop) | Yes | Full, same engine as Chrome |
| Firefox (desktop) | Yes | Full; share falls back to download where unavailable |
| Safari (macOS) | Yes | Full; clipboard copy where supported |
| iOS Safari | Yes | Works; keep files small on low-memory devices |
| Android Chrome | Yes | Full including share sheet |
Limits
- 200 pages per session. The queue refuses more, because there is no server to absorb the render cost.
- 100 MB per session. Total queued bytes are capped in-browser for the same reason.
- Corrupt files fail softly. A broken PDF shows an inline error banner and never crashes the page.
- No persisted URLs. Outputs download immediately; nothing is stored or linkable.
Keeping a free, no-signup PDF tool online still costs hosting every month. If it saved you an upload, you can chip in once on the support page.

Frequently asked questions
How do I compress a PDF for free with no limit?
Add your PDFs to the queue, open the Compress tab, pick a DPI (72, 150 or 300) and a JPEG quality from 10 to 95, then press Compress. Each file shows before and after bytes plus percent saved, and you download the result. There is no hourly cap and no account.
How do I merge PDFs without uploading them?
Add two or more PDFs to the queue, drag to reorder them, open the Merge tab and press Merge. The files are concatenated in queue order entirely in your browser with pdf-lib, and you download one merged PDF. Nothing is posted anywhere.
How do I split or extract pages from a PDF?
Add the PDF to the queue, open the Split tab, type a page range like 1-3,5 and press Extract range for a new PDF with just those pages. Press Split all to ZIP to get every page as its own PDF inside one ZIP via JSZip.
Is this a private iLovePDF alternative with no sign-up?
Yes. It covers the three most-used iLovePDF actions — compress, merge and split — with zero accounts, zero ads and zero trackers. Every byte is processed in memory on your device, so unlike upload-first tools there is nothing to delete afterwards.
How do I get around Smallpdf's 2-per-hour limit?
Use this page instead. Smallpdf limits free users to about two tasks per hour unless you sign up. Here there is no counter, no queue and no paywall — compress, merge and split as many times as you like within the 200-page and 100 MB per-session guard.
Do my PDF files ever leave my device?
No. All parsing, rendering and zipping happens in memory in this tab with pdf-lib, pdf.js and JSZip loaded from a CDN. The network tab stays silent except CDN and analytics, and downloads use temporary blob URLs that are revoked, never persisted.
What are the limits and which browsers are supported?
The honest in-browser guard is 200 pages and 100 MB per session, because there is no server to absorb more. Corrupt files show an inline error without crashing. Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, iOS Safari and Android Chrome are supported; very old browsers without WebAssembly or Blob URLs cannot run the engine.
