Questions people ask about these tools
Are these tools really free?
Yes, every tool on aczh.dev is free with no trial and no feature locked behind an account. There is no advertising on any page and no data is sold.
The tools are paid for by people who found them useful making a one-off contribution, and the ones that run entirely in your browser cost almost nothing to host.
Do I need an account to use them?
No. None of the tools ask you to sign up, and none of them need an email address. Open the page, use the tool, close the tab.
An account page is available only if you want your favourites and ordering to follow you across devices, and it changes nothing about what the tools can do.
Is my data private?
For most of them, nothing you type ever leaves your device. The QR code generator, the NRIC validator, the vehicle plate checker, the Unicode formatter and the D'Alembert simulator all run client-side, which means an identity number or a licence plate is never uploaded anywhere.
The two exceptions are the URL shortener and the QR threat scanner, which have to contact a service to do their job at all. The terms and privacy says exactly what each one stores.
Why is there no advertising?
Because advertising pays for itself by profiling the people who see it, and these are the opposite of that.
A QR code generator that wanted to monetise would put ads on the page and on the code itself. It would also be much easier to sell the click data that a URL shortener collects, which is exactly what does not happen here.
Do you have an API?
The URL shortener has a documented REST API for creating short links and reading click statistics. It needs no account for ordinary use.
The other tools are browser-based and are not exposed as a hosted service, deliberately: their value is that the data never leaves your machine, which a server endpoint could not offer.
How can I support aczh.dev?
A one-off contribution covers the hosting, the domain and the certificates. There is no subscription to cancel and no recurring charge, and nothing is unlocked by paying because there is nothing to unlock.
If a tool saved you time, that is the whole ask: support aczh.dev.
