The short version: you never need an account to use anything here. Every tool works for anyone who opens the page. An account is an optional convenience that exists for one purpose — remembering your preferences between devices — and if you would rather not have one, nothing on this site is held against you and nothing is lost.

1 The tools

aczh.dev provides free web tools — a QR generator and scanner, NRIC and vehicle plate validators, a URL shortener, a text formatter, a betting calculator and others. They are offered as-is and at no cost.

No account is required to use any tool, and we do not put one behind any feature. Where a tool works entirely in your browser, the data never reaches our servers at all.

2 Accounts are optional

You may create an account if you want your preferences to follow you between devices. Creating one is entirely voluntary. It is a convenience feature, not a condition of use, and declining it costs you nothing beyond the convenience.

An account does exactly one thing: it stores the preferences you choose to save, such as the order of the tools on your home page, which ones you have marked as favourites, which you have hidden, and per-tool settings. It is not a membership, a subscription, or a paid tier, and it carries no fee.

3 What an account stores

An aczh.dev account holds the following, and nothing more:

DataWhy it is held
Email address To identify the account, confirm that you own it, and let you sign back in.
Sign-in method To know whether to offer you Google, Facebook, or an email and password prompt.
Display name and picture Only if you signed in with Google or Facebook, and only as that provider returned them.
Your preferences The layout, favourites, hidden apps and per-tool settings you chose to save.
Sign-in times The date of your last activity, which is what the inactivity rule in section 5 is measured against.

We do not store billing details, a postal address, a profile, a usage history, or your saved files, and we do not use your account for advertising. We do not sell or rent account data, and there is no account data to rent.

4 Sign-in and email verification

You can sign in with Google, with Facebook, or with an email address and a password of your choosing.

When you register with your own email address, we send a confirmation link and the account cannot be used until that link is clicked. This exists to stop throwaway and automated sign-ups. The link works once and expires; if it expires, request another. Your preferences are not saved until the address is confirmed.

When you sign in with Google or Facebook, that provider confirms your email address to us, and we treat it as verified. If you use both a password and a provider on the same email address, they are treated as one account, not two.

Passwords are stored only as a slow one-way hash. We cannot read your password, and neither can anyone who obtains a copy of the database.

5 Inactivity and deletion of account data

We keep inactive accounts tidy. If an account has not been used for more than three months, the data held for it may be purged. "Used" means you signed in, or the account was used to save or fetch your preferences — not merely that a session cookie still sits in a browser somewhere.

In plain terms: sign in once every three months and everything is kept. Go quiet for longer than that and the account, its saved preferences and its sign-in records are deleted automatically.

Before anything is deleted, we email you a reminder to the address on the account. One sign-in at any point before the deadline keeps everything, and going quiet again afterwards starts a fresh three months.

This applies equally to data saved through Device Sync without an account: a Device Sync entry that has not been used for more than three months is removed on the same schedule.

You can also remove everything yourself at any time, immediately and without waiting, using Delete my account on the account page. This deletes the account and its preferences permanently and cannot be undone.

6 Cookies and local storage

We use the following, and nothing beyond them:

  • aczh_session — set only when you sign in. A random token that identifies your session. It is HttpOnly (invisible to page scripts), Secure (sent over HTTPS only) and SameSite=Lax. Only a hash of it is stored.
  • Browser local storage — used to remember your tool layout and preferences on the device you are using, whether or not you have an account, and to remember your Device Sync ID. Clearing your browser storage clears it.

We do not set advertising cookies, cross-site tracking cookies, or third-party marketing cookies.

7 Analytics

We count visits to our own pages using a self-hosted, cookie-free analytics service. It records the page and a rough count of visits in order to show cumulative visit totals on the site. It does not build a profile of you, does not set a cookie, and is not shared with any third party.

These aggregate counters tell us nothing about your account, and they are not linked to it.

8 Payments

Every tool is free and none of them has a paid tier. If you choose to make a voluntary contribution through the support page, that checkout is handled entirely by Stripe.

We never see or store your card number. Stripe collects it directly under its own privacy policy and terms. We receive only confirmation that a payment succeeded. Contributions are voluntary and carry no entitlement to any service.

9 Third parties

Where a third party is involved, it is because you asked for it:

  • Google or Facebook — only when you choose to sign in with them. They handle the consent screen and tell us your name, picture and verified email address. They are also bound by their own privacy policies.
  • Stripe — only if you make a contribution. See section 8.
  • Link destinations — the URL shortener and QR scanner resolve addresses you give them. Those destinations are beyond our control, and we do not monitor where they lead.

Our pages load web fonts from Google Fonts. Loading a font discloses your IP address to that service. Self-hosting the fonts instead would remove that disclosure.

10 Acceptable use

Do not use aczh.dev to:

  • break the law, or infringe anyone else's rights;
  • send malicious traffic, scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for others, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any account, service or server;
  • create accounts in bulk, use false information, or use the site to distribute malware, unsolicited mail or deceptive links.

We may suspend or delete an account that does this. Because accounts carry no paid entitlement, suspension costs you nothing but the convenience.

11 No warranty

The site and its tools are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied.

In particular, no warranty is given that the tools will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose. The checksum solvers, validators and scanners are conveniences and must not be relied on as the sole control for anything safety, financial or legally significant. Verify independently.

To the extent permitted by law, no liability is accepted for loss of data, loss of profit, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

12 Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as the site changes. The date at the top always shows the current version. Where a change affects how long your data is kept — including the three-month rule in section 5 — it will be announced on the site before it takes effect, and accounts already past the deadline under the previous rule are given the longer of the two periods.

13 Contact

To delete your account and its data, use the account page — that is the fastest route and it is immediate. For any other question about these terms or your data, use the contact form on the support page.
